Saturday Beer Review: Saint Botolph’s Town Rustic Brown Ale (Pretty Things Beer and Ale Project)

Appearance: Beautiful looking beer, dark brown and clear with a sustained tan head.
Aroma: Fruity esters are very strong! I picked them  up the instant I poured the beer. Very strong suggestion of bananas. Otherwise fairly malty.
Mouthfeel: Surprisingly light feeling for such a dark beer. No obvious suggestion of alcohol. Slight bitterness at the back of the throat.
Taste: Very complex. The fruity esters are present in the taste, there’s some bitterness from the hops, and yet there’s also a nice fullness from the malt.
Drinkability: Very drinkable. A nicely rounded beer, well balanced between malt and hops.
